Box Review: Curse of Dread
This is the 20th Mini Box and was released on August 12th, 2019. Curse of Dread introduces the Vendread and Venom archtypes and adds support for Zombie decks.

Fableds have the same problems as before. They have no play going 1st, their strategy is easily disrupted, and the mediocre synchros we have access to make the engine not worth playing at all.
Vendreads can be very strong once set up, but may suffer from consistency issues or being easily countered. High Potential.
Plaguespreader Zombie and Glow-Up Bloom are strong cards, but dont seem that great with the card pool we have. May help out decks like vamps, we’ll see
After testing a good bit with the help of Timaeus and others, I have come to my conclusion on Vendread. I feel it may have some very solid matchups in the meta and the deck can certainly pick up steam and begin to snowball on opponents. That being said, Sealed Tombs nearly outright destroys the deck. Cyberdarks can absolutely bully it going first or second, Six Samurais are a bit of a nightmare, and Desperado/Triamids have their own ways of shutting the deck down as well in the form of disruptive backrow such as Paleozoic Canadia, etc. Unlike Cyber Angels, Vendread searching is slower rather than immediate- frequently leaving them in top deck situations or with low resources. The deck does not thin at a very high rate compared to most of the meta and thus tends to fall behind in card advantage fast if their initial boss is worked around. While this deck certainly feels like it has Tier List potential, I personally do not see it being anything beyond the power level of Metaphys in side deck formats.
