Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links: New Player Guide!

Important Tips + Top Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Be careful with your in-game resources!
    • Do not spend Dream Tickets or Gems without guidance.
    • Dream Tickets are incredibly rare, high-value tickets that get you nearly any card.
    • Gems are the main currency of the game for obtaining cards, don’t use them without a plan.
    • Other resources like non-Dream UR/SR Tickets and Skill Tickets are very useful for filling out your first deck.
  2. Be aware of certain limited cards!
    • Never convert a card you have less than 3 copies of. Some cards are only available a certain number of times, and cannot be re-obtained if converted.
    • Use our Card Search and click on a card to see how it’s obtained, and if it’s been used recently by top decks.
  3. Update your duel settings!
    • Do not play with the default Duel Settings!
    • You can change your settings by tapping the icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
    • Recommended Settings:
      • Top-Down View: ON
      • Self-Chain: ON
      • Toggle Button: ON
      • Power Usage: Max for highest framerate (mobile only)

Instant New Player Decks

These decks can be built near instantly for free after installing:

#1 Recommendation: Noble Knights

For 1000 Gems, Noble Knights are the best instant deck you can build on a new account. This deck can later be built into a full Tier 1 Deck. It will also require about 500 Gems (possibly more depending on your luck) to pull a Normal Rarity Gwenhwyfar, Queen of Noble Arms from the “Infinite Ray” Main BOX. Use your Skill Ticket to obtain the skill Balance.

Refer to the Noble Knight Breakdown for a fully optimized build that you can work towards over time.

How To Obtain

“Tech” cards:

#2 Recommendation: Blue-Eyes

For 1000-2000 Gems, Blue-Eyes (while not as good as Noble Knights) is another great option. Blue-Eyes can also later be optimized to a strong top-tier deck. Unlock Seto Kaiba (DSOD) and his Ultimate Dragons Skill by unlocking Stage 7 of the Dark Side of Dimension (DSOD) world.

Refer to the Blue-Eyes Breakdown for a fully optimized build that you can work towards over time.

How To Obtain

Core:

“Tech” cards:

  • 2 Enemy Controller can be obtained with with SR Tickets (do not use Dream Tickets) or by completing the Bingo Missions.
  • The second Birthright can be obtained for 1000 Gems from the Return of the Red-Eyes Structure Deck for 500 Gems Note: This will not be used optimized builds.
  • 1 Head Judging can be obtained with a Prismatic UR Ticket (Do not use Dream Tickets).
  • Any number of Metalmorph can be obtained with SR Tickets (Do not use Dream Tickets).
  • Any number of Rainbow Life can be obtained with SR Tickets (Do not use Dream Tickets).
  • Hallowed Life Barrier is another great free-to-play card, but you need to play in Ranked Duels to obtain it (from the R Tickets you get as part of the monthly rewards).

Other Free + Instant New Player Deck

In addition to Noble Knights and Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes is another immediately accessible, free deck.

WARNING! Red-Eyes cannot be built into a top-tier deck later. However, this is a good immediately accessible and free deck for low-ranked dueling.

You can replace the non-Red-Eyes Trap cards with anything. A/D Changer can be replaced with any Warrior-Type Monster. Refer to the Red-Eyes Breakdown for more optimal builds, but keep in mind that this deck is not currently relevant for high-level competitive play.

Farming

What is Farming?

Farming usually can be known as an activity in the game in which you try to get over 8000 Duel Assessment(DA/DP) in a Duel for Drop Rewards. A Chest is obtained for every 1000 Points you earn (You can earn a maximum of 8 Chests per Duel). More chests give you an increased chance of obtaining a card from the Legendary Duelist (LD) you’re Dueling against, or a Skill from the LD you’re using to Duel.

What are the differences between Card Farming and Skill Farming?

  • Card Farming aims for getting the cards you want that the corresponding LD drops. (Example: Dueling Mokuba Kaiba (DSOD) has a chance to drop Thunder Dragondark as chest rewards for you)
  • Skill Farming aims for getting a good Skill (that can only be obtained through Chests). The Skills you can obtain are randomly chosen from the Skill List of the Legendary Duelist you’re using. Example: Dueling with Sartorius Kumar can drop Master of Destiny (A Skill for Sartorius Kumar).

Benefits of Farming

Some cards in Top Tier decks are FARMABLE (For Example: Thunder Dragondark). Also, aside from boxes, most cards are obtainable from Legendary Duelists. Cards from new Legendary Duelists events have HIGH POTENTIAL, such as Photon Advancer from the recent Kite Tenjo Event.

Skill Farming is very important in this game. Some Skills like Master of Destiny are only available through Chest Drops, and have a meta-defining impact on the game. This is why you need a deck that can go for 8000 DA in order to have the best chance at getting the desired Skill.

Why can’t I just win?

Usually a win will get you 2000-3000 DA points, so it may appear that winning normally 4 times is the same as or potentially better than farming for 5 mins to get 8 chests. However, it should be noted that opportunities to farm Legendary Resources are limited either by resources or time. As such, you should make the most out of each opportunity to maximize your chances!

F2P Farm Decks for Beginners

You have read all the benefits of farming, I believe. Now is it time to build your very own farm deck:

When you’re farming, your goal is to aim for:

  • Dealing Over 9999 Damage for 3000 DA.
  • Victory by Effect Damage Only for 1000 DA.
  • Cards on the Brink - Win with No cards left in your deck for 500 DA.
  • Play Glossy / Prismatic Cards : 100 DA for each Glossy Card, 200 DA for each Prismatic Cards.

F2P Yubel Farm

Requires 1x Fire King Structure Deck, Yubel Lv 30, Trudge Lv 30, UR Tickets spent on the Yubel Cards, and Card Trader for Jar of Greed
