Vampires Breakdown
Vampires are a very fast deck introduced in Empire of Scarlet. The deck generally opens by putting Vampire Familiar or Vampire Retainer in the grave (through Gozuki, Samurai Skull, or even Enemy Controller), then reviving them from the grave to search. The main win condition Vampires have is a Vampire Grace under Vampire Kingdom, pulling from the opponent’s deck to destroy any card on the field. Vampires’ strengths include extremely fast swarming and searching (helped by a searchable “Double Summon” in Vampire’s Domain) and easy access to their tech cards. Their weaknesses center around the fact that Vampires are almost a pure beatdown-style deck outside of Kingdom’s destruction effect (and that there are few good ways of using Kingdom as interruption on your opponent’s turns). Heavy backrow forces the deck to slow down considerably and resource management is key because running out of fuel for Kingdom is a real concern.

- Vampire’s Domain has an effect that lingers after it leaves the field, meaning that you can activate it, summon a Gozuki to dump a Familiar, revive Familiar by sending Domain to the grave, search a Grace, and then summon the Grace.
- When you activate Familiar’s or Retainer’s special summon effect, the game will not let you select another that’s already been special summoned in the same way since it would be banished instead of sent to the grave. This is because sending to the graveyard is part of the cost, and cannot be met. When you activate the second effect of Vampire’s Desire, the game will allow you to select a monster that cannot actually go to the graveyard (because it’s part of Desire’s effect, not the cost), but doing so will simply banish the monster and Desire’s effect will fizzle.
- In the mirror match, your opponent’s Kingdom will trigger off of your Samurai Skull/Gozuki effects (this can be a nice way to float Samurai Skull into Gozuki). If you both have Kingdom up, theirs will also trigger after yours resolves unless you destroy their Kingdom with your Kingdom’s effect.
